Are you making a living? Or making a life?

Are you making a living? Or making a life?

“Some people are so poor, all they have is money” – Patrick Meagher

Many people wish for higher income, looking for a promotion, or a part time job, or even staying in a company for a long time to get the annual raise, believing that this is the road to becoming rich.

At one point yes, they will become rich but maybe not wealthy. Many people forget that there are things in life that money cannot buy, on top of the list is happiness

“Money will buy you a bed, but not a good night’s sleep, a house but not a home, a companion but not a friend.” – Zig Ziglar

People assume that income defines wealth, but it is not the money that makes someone rich, it is the quality or the luxury of life. I will give you an example, let’s imagine we have two individuals John & Smith. Both John, and smith make $100,000/year.

John works 60 hours/week while smith works 40 hours/week. Now who is richer? Let’s imagine that we have another individual “Chris” who makes $50,000/year but works only 10 hours a week.

Now who is the wealthiest? Who got more time to spend with family? Who got more time for himself? Who got more time to spend on hobbies/traveling/joy?

If we look at this example, the driver here is TIME! People are not rich with money, people are rich with time.

Are you willing to spend your life making money? or spend your life happy and enjoying life? Do you have dreams, and goals that you want to achieve, but you keep deferring it because you don’t have time? Do you know how much time left in your life?

Time has more uncertainty than money. People who can manage their time are happier and richer than people who are wasting their time.

No matter if you are rich or poor, if you have more time for all the things you love to do, this will lead you to happiness, which is equal to a rich life. If you spend most of your time doing the things you hate doing, this will lead you to stress, which is equal to a poor life.

“The rich invest in time, the poor invest in money.” – Warren Buffett

Now how do you invest your time?

Remember that money can go up and down, and there are are too many external factors that can affect money, but time is based on your choices, and every second consumed or wasted is gone! It will never come back, Time is the most precious resource, so how are you investing your time?

I would love to hear from you, tell me what you think?
